Eunice Chay is Ethnē’s Dental Director. She has a B.A. in International Relations from Agnes Scott College, D.M.D. from University of Pennsylvania, and M.P.H. from University of Pennsylvania. She completed her General Practice Residency from Virtua Health System and Advanced Education in General Dentistry Program from NYU-Langone Health in Atlanta, GA. 

She has always had a heart for working with refugee and immigrant communities. She was born and raised in NC but lived in Taiwan as a child for several years. Her own experience of living in different countries and straddling different cultures and cultural identities as well as watching her immigrant parents navigate life in the U.S. gave her empathy for others who choose or are forced to leave their home countries and start new lives elsewhere. Prior to dental school, she worked for a local non-profit organization that served refugees and immigrants in Atlanta. That was her first exposure to the diverse and vibrant community in Clarkston. During dental school in Philadelphia, she did an internship with a local refugee resettle agency doing oral health education and the refugee and immigrant communities there and did her MPH thesis on oral health and nutrition in the refugee communities. She is passionate about the tremendous need for accessible and affordable dental care in Clarkston. Many community members have suffered from chronic dental pain and disease due to lack of access to care, and she became a dentist so that she can work with underserved populations. She is grateful for the privilege to use her skills to serve the Clarkston community.

Dr. Chay was born and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina and lived in Taipei, Taiwan from the ages of five to eight. Those years helped to shape her identity as a Chinese/Taiwanese American and gave her a global perspective. Her own experience of living in different countries and straddling different cultures and cultural identities as well as watching her immigrant parents navigate life here in the U.S. gave her empathy for others who choose or are forced to leave their home countries and start new lives elsewhere.

Prior to becoming a dentist, she worked at various jobs, including at the Center for Pan Asian Community Services in Atlanta. During her residency program in Atlanta, she rotated through the Grady Infectious Disease Program, HEALing Community Center, and Ben Massell Dental Clinic. As a dentist, she has worked in private practice and community health clinic settings. A "good day's work” at Ethnē looks like her team working efficiently, effectively, and compassionately together to meet the oral healthcare needs of their diverse and vibrant community. It is so rewarding to help alleviate someone's pain, help someone overcome their dental anxiety, or be someone's first experience seeing a dentist. Working in someone’s mouth requires a lot of trust, and she finds it a privilege when people trust her enough to treat them and their families.

Outside of work, Dr. Chay enjoys traveling, trying new foods, exercising, and spending time with friends and family, especially her husband and children.
